:: My internet connection was out for the past couple of hours. Grrrrrr. I am not amused. It's hard to get stuff done without teh internets. Bah.

:: However, I did put the time to good use, capping an eppy of S3 from the DVDs. At least the day wasn't a total loss. Sadly, I wasn't as productive Tuesday as I'd hoped. Life likes to thwart me sometimes.

:: In my 3 days on the PC, I made over 60 new icons from my various caps from Seasons 1-4. I've got a few more I want to make from some Jensen photo shoots and those Entertainment Weekly pics of the guys before I start posting though.

:: Gotta pick up the pace in posting my remaining S5 Hi-Res Caps. There's still 5 eppies to do and I want to get them posted before the 21st.

:: I'm going to be posting my LJ Goals for the month later on today. I've had to scale back some plans, but I'm still confident I'll get everything done.

Aw, hell. This post is boring! Sorry about that. Here....random Dean.

I'm back in the Netherlands, running around like a headless chicken with a dozen errands before I settle down to write the blasted lion's mane note and look for a job.

In the summer of 2007 I began a Name That Screencap Challenge that ran until the new episodes began in the fall. I've always thought of reviving the challenge again and while I'm a little late this summer, I think it'll still be fun. Now there's even more episodes to choose from!

UGH, okay. So. You all know that I came away from SPN/J2 fandom a few months ago with the distinct impression that that fandom is batshit and wanky as all hell and just a miserable place to hang out, right? Mainly that was driven by all of those anonymous hate memes, where random people said awful things about people I liked, yadda yadda yadda.

But tonight, the lovely standing_fic posted about how much LOVE she has for people she's met through SPN fandom, and asked her flist to share the same. So I'm going to treat as a meme, and so should YOU!

COMMENT, and say one nice thing about at least one person you've met through spn fandom.

I've posted this to the comm itself, but I'm x-posting here in the hopes of getting more applicants.



I started the community back in April, with the hope that it would become a place for people to share their love of Jensen Ackles. However, in those 8 or 9 months, things have been slow to take off. I get the impression that people are looking for more from the comm and not getting it, so I need some help.

I've never run a comm before, much less looked for a co-moderator, but I need to try.

What am I looking for? Someone who knows something about co-running a community and has some ideas on making it better. More specifically, I'm hoping to find someone who'll be able to set up and run challenges, fanfic prompts, etc.

I never follow through on resolutions, so I'm not making any. If I had some *goals*, however (completely, different, by the way), I would like to get serious about practicing yoga, run another half marathon, and call my parents once a week. Sadly, I think the last one will be the most difficult. I am so bad about keeping in touch with people. I think it's because I'm very, very self involved.

Lately I've really been expanding my music horizons and I thought I'd start sharing some of my discoveries. Some you'll know, some you won't, but either way it's a chance to spread some music love. And what better day to use than Mondays? It's a chance to get the week started right. ;)

The music will come in various forms: youtube video, streaming player, or download link. A song each Monday...that's the plan. :D

I heard this song on Shore 104 FM (a lot of my finds are from there) and loved it right away. Mmmm....I'd like to take a walk with one Dean Winchester...or Jensen Ackles. Hee! :P The video is very fun. 60's hip sound w/Busby Berkley influences. Enjoy!

It was a tough decision this time around, now that I'm no longer narrowed down to only a select few Xmas headers anymore. Phew! Finally settled on this b&w one of Jensen that I've never used before along with some red stripes. This'll ease us back into my usual red background when the time comes. ;)

First, thank you to everyone who responded to my earlier post! I couldn't reply to you without unscreening the comments, so I figured I'd make a whole new post with regular comments. (UM. If this is any indication at how I'd be at modding a community, WE ARE IN BIG TROUBLE.)

ANYWAY. Point is, I created jb_bigbang JUST IN CASE we decide to go through with this! There's nothing there yet - it's just a placeholder.  Ignore the fact that it says 'COMING SOON' in the profile.  That's just me getting over-excited.

Here's the summary of the key points I gleaned from the responses to my previous post...

• PARTNERING.  There was an overwhelming response to the post from people who want to write (over FORTY people, if you can believe it), but only TWO people who offered to make art, so I think we'd have to expand the accompanying media criteria to include vids and fanmixes.  Having participated in a BB before, I think part of the pressure to complete the fic is if you know there is an artist/vidder/etc. who you've been partnered with who is counting on you.  (ETA:  A lovely person just reminded me that a Big Bang challenge, by definition, must have both art/media AND fic - the combination of which creates a BIG BANG.  GET IT?)  Anyways, not having enough media to accompany the fic might be an issue.
• MINIMUM WORD COUNT.  Most people felt that a 20k minimum word count (which is what it currently is in SPN BB) would be too ambitious for our tiny little fandom.   We'd probably go with 15k, which would still be longer than the majority of the fics currently posted around the JB fic comms.
• DOES MY CURRENT WIP COUNT?  It can!  Traditionally Big Bangs are for new fics, however, this fandom seems to be RIFE with authors who get stuck on grandiose story ideas and end up posting a snippet here or a snippet there.  If all you've posted of a WIP are a few snippets, then your completed fic should be a significantly newer/longer fic.  I... have no idea how we'd control for this.  Is this a stupid rule?  Should we make it so that only NEW fics count?  AHAHA.  I JUST WANT AN EXCUSE TO WRITE SUBCONSCIOUS!DATING FOR BIG BANG.
• PRIMARY CHARACTERS AND GENRES.  Would absolutely have to be one of the three Jonas Brothers (Kevin, Joe, or Nick.)  Doesn't matter if it's slash, het or gen, as long as one of those boys is the primary character, we are good.  This basically eliminates non-Jonas Disney RPF.  So Kevin/Zac would be fine, or Nick/Kim Kardashian, just not Demi/Selena.
• JONAS VS JB.  I think it makes sense to expand it to JONAS fic, rather than just Jonas Brothers RPF, but I'm open to suggestion!  Previous rule would still apply, so Nick/Macy would be fine, but Macy/Stella would not.
• AUs.  AUs are perfectly fine.  Three people suggested that we make a rule so that AUs where the boys aren't brothers are not allowed.  I am inclined to agree, but am open to hearing if you have a strong opinion either way.  (ETA: Changed my mind - don't think this needs to be a RULE.  Fic challenges like this shouldn't really limit content.  People can choose to read non-brother AUs or not.  Some non-brother AUs have been really good!)
• TIMING.  We seem to have a bunch of writers who are also students, so we'd likely not set deadlines before the summer.  Unfortunately that coincides with some other Big Bangs going around, so I'd almost rather make the posting deadline LATE summer, with drafts due mid-summer, so that if people wanted to also participate in the SPN Big Bang, for example, they could.
• MORE HARM THAN GOOD?  A couple of smart people raised the point that the challenges that we had around the end of 2009 (yuletide , jb_ficexchange , etc.) created a bit of a dry spell, fic-wise, because everyone was working on their challenge fics.  The last thing I want to do is suck this fledgling little fandom DRY.
